1776 Steakhouse opened under new ownership December 1, 2007, maintaining the well-known restaurant’s name, premium steak focus and fine-dining appeal.
This Midway Shopping Center restaurant, conveniently located between Lewes and Rehoboth, has been renovated and the menu expanded and updated to include additional selections. 1776 is also now open for lunch, Mondays through Saturdays.
New owners are locals Tom Holmes, Tammy Mozingo, and John Farquhar. They bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the new endeavor.
Tammy, originally from Washington D.C., has lived in the rehoboth area for nearly 20 years. Her previous experience has helped her excel as executive chef to many fine establishments including Tom and Terry's Seafood Restaurant in Fenwick Island.
John is a life long resident of Sussex County and well known in the area through his 20 plus years in the local restaurant industry.
Holmes comes directly from Rehoboth Beach Country Club, where he was Assistant General Manager, and developed an excellent reputation for food and beverage management, menu development and customer service. He is the former owner of the popular dining establishment Noelle in Medford, New Jersey.
